IDSA Interest Group Application

Interest groups provide a format for members to come together under the IDSA umbrella to support member interests and careers in infectious diseases and help IDSA and HIVMA further their mission. Interest groups exist outside of the formal governance structure of IDSA and are member run - the activities and goals are not set by IDSA leadership, and they do not utilize the same organizational resources and staff time as governance entities do.

Interest Group Essentials:
  • Interest group purpose must align with the mission and values of the organization.
  • Membership in these groups must align with our IDA&E Principles and be inclusive of any individuals who support the aims and values of the interest group.
  • Chairs, co-chairs, and all members must be members of IDSA.
  • Interest groups must have at least 20 individuals who are willing to participate.
Additional Interest Group Details:
  • IDSA will help interest groups setup, recruit and maintain a list of participants.
  • Interest groups should provide a brief summary of activities on an annual basis and leaders may be invited to share and discuss those activities.
  • Interest groups can remain active while there is active engagement among membership.
  • If an interest group is inactive for a period of six months, the interest group may be closed.
  • Interest groups whose activities or conduct does not align with the values of IDSA and it's code of conduct may be closed.
